When it comes to outdoor gear, there are no more fundamental items than backpacks, sleeping bags, and tents. You can't go camping without them and you definitely need the right equipment if you want to take the path less traveled. Environeer's knowledgeable staff can help you sort through the top brands to find the right combination that will enable you to achieve your goals.
Backpacks
Your backpack should be an honored part of your hike and not a beast of burden. When shopping for a backpack, the most important factor to consider is how well it fits. Regardless of your size or height, our experienced staff can harmonize you and a pack into blissful oneness. By properly sizing your torso and waist measurements we will enable you to find a backpack that properly fits and provides a comfortable hiking adventure.
Beyond fit, there are a myriad of features, such as storage pockets, access sippers, and water bottle holders, that can make trail life better. You may want to keep these, as well as frame type, external or internal, in mind when selecting your pack.
Our selection of quality backpacks, such as Kelty, Arcteryx and Gregory models, can accommodate a wide range of interests, including packs designed for short backcountry trips, climbing or mountaineering. Stop by, see firsthand and try on products created with your aspirations in mind.
Sleeping Bags
Make sure you snooze like a baby inside a sleeping bag rated for your metabolism and shaped for your curves. Consider a high quality bag by Mountain Hardwear, Sierra Designs, or Feathered Friends. When choosing a sleeping bag, look for lots of loft fill, rugged shell material, and sizing that snugs against your curves without cutting off circulation. Remember to use temperature ratings as a rough guide - accuracy of these ratings varies widely from manufacturer to manufacturer. Your best bet is to estimate the minimum temperature usually encountered in your hiking location, and then choose a bag rated for 15 degrees cooler.
Weight, size and durability are also important factors to consider when selecting the appropriate bag. Manufacturers such as Kelty and Marmot use only the latest fabrics and fill materials (synthetic or goose down) available today to construct their sleeping bags. Our experienced sales staff can help you determine which bag is best suited for your individual outdoor needs. Whether you're sleeping in a warm tropical or in subzero arctic conditions, we have a bag for you.
Important tips like these can help you make the right bag decision and save you many a sleepless night on the trail; feel free to stop by the store and take advantage of our experience.
Tents
Prepare for your next backpacking trip with a high quality tent from Sierra Designs or Mt. Hardwear. Don't make a mistake and purchase a tent of inferior quality. A good tent is like homeowner's insurance - you may not need all it has to offer, but it's sure nice to have when things (can you say "weather?") turn foul.
The most up to date and innovative backpacking tents on the market today, including brands such as Walrus and Kelty, are available at Environeers. Because we specialize in outfitting backpackers, most of our tents sleep just one to two persons. However, our stock includes tents that sleep up to four persons and we have access to a variety of the larger family-style tents. Our manufacturers build their tents using the most lightweight, durable fabrics and pole systems available today.
Whether you are camping at your local state park, hiking in the High Sierras, or sleeping on a jungle floor, our staff can help you determine which tent is most suited to meet your needs.
