10/24/2008 - New - Environeers' Outdoor Series!
Join the Environeers’ crew to get ready for the Fall season. This series of courses will give you practical answers to all of your hiking and backpacking questions. Have a great time and learn some outdoor skills while you’re at it!

COURSE 1 - LOCAL DAY HIKE
Take a hike through a local state park. Our group will get on the trail for a beautiful morning in the woods. Learn about hiking basics and have fun with like-minded folks. We’ll be out for a couple hours and cover a few miles, so don’t forget your day pack.
Price - $20 per person, $10 deposit (non-refundable) due when you register.

COURSE 2 - INTRO TO CAMPING
This class is for anyone who would love to get outside but isn’t sure how to start. No overnight yet, just practice in the outdoors. Learn how to set up and break down your campsite. We’ll also discuss building a good fire, what food to bring, cooking, water purification, and go over some “Leave No Trace” skills. After this class you’ll be ready for your own adventure!
Price - $20 per person, $10 deposit (non-refundable) due when you register.

COURSE 3 - INTRO TO BACKPACKING
Learn all about backpacking so you can feel confident taking your own crew. Get hands on experience with and learn all of our secret tricks. We’ll show you how to lighten your pack, sleep and eat better, pick good campsites, and help you develop the perfect system for you.
Gear not provided.
Price - $40 per person, $20 deposit (non-refundable) due when you register.

COURSE 4 - INTRO TO ORIENTEERING
Time to break out that old compass or try out your spiffy new one. We’ll start with basic map skills that will give you confidence in your sense of direction. You’ll also learn the skills to move safely off trail and be able to use typical Florida land features to find your position. By the end of the course you’ll feel secure in your ability to navigate.

COURSE 5 - INTRO TO CAMP COOKING / WATER PURIFICATION
We all love to eat, especially after a long day on the trail. This course is perfect for those who have had enough oatmeal and who feel dehydrated foods just won’t cut it anymore. Learn how to cook simple meals that work so well in the bush, they’ll probably show up on your dinner table.
